Matthew, a scientist from YEL, had an idea of improving the organutan searching process:
At the moment, they search the jungle more or less randomly with patrols and try to find nests or other signs of orangutans. This is inefficient and costly and demotivating for the patrols, because they often find nothing at all.
With single-chip-computers such as the Arduino, this process could be improved significantly.

In the last 3 days, we were playing around with some sensors and an Arduino Uno. Greg, who is a physics teacher and a friend of Matthew, came over and showed us some projects he has already been working at. It was quite a good working atmosphere (including some chunk food from Mac Donalds for lunch) and we have some good ideas for future projects.
