By April 2015, the EcoLodge in Bukit Lawang (www.ecolodgebukitlawang.com) should have a new restaurant. The new building provides space for 200 guests and uses bamboo as the main construction material: The Construction, roof, furniture, stairs and lighting are all made from bamboo. The ground floor consists of polished cement while the second floor is bamboo and the walls are made from clay and bamboo.
The restaurant has been designed by Lukas Z. (another civil serveant) and Vinc and Joerg have been hired to bring in their experience of the bamboo threatment and construction. My part in the project is the planning and realization of the electrical installation (planing, dimensioning, organizing the material (cables, switches, bulbs, socket plugs, …) and installing). Since the Indonesian just install the cables wall-mounted (“Aufputz”) and we want to hide all the cables from the guests, I’ll have to teach the electricians of the EcoLodge (Cigit, Zuki and Wahid) some other techniques of installing.

After some discussions with Lukas Z. (the architect) and Suherry (my boss / director of PPLH), I have finalized the plans and we are ready to realize the installation! You can find the plans for the ground floor here and the ones for the upper floor here
